I obtained my D.Phil (PhD) at Oxford University in 2011. My thesis is called “The Performative Construction of Identity in the Shang and Zhou Dynasties”. Using Judith Butler’s theory of performativity and Heideggerean phenomenology, I explore the mechanisms by which identity might have been (re)constructed and (re)produced at burial in Bronze Age China.
I started this blog to discuss some of my ideas, thoughts and other observations on Chinese archaeology. I hope to get more people interested in the fascinating world of Bronze Age China.
